PEPY was founded in 2007 under the name "Protect Earth Protect Yourself" and registered as a Cambodian non-governmental organisation in 2014. The social and ecological orientation anchored in the founding idea is still an integral part of the organisation today.
The team consists mostly of young Cambodians, many of whom have undergone PEPY training themselves. They thus come from similar backgrounds as the beneficiaries, which makes their project work very effective. The team knows first-hand the challenges faced by young people in Cambodia.
PEPY supports young people in Siem Reap province with personal and professional development. The interlocking programmes start at the high school level and go all the way to supporting start-ups. PEPY started a cooperation with CO-OPERAID in 2023 with the project "YISI".
