Mozambique: the chance to learn in school

Uganda Schulprojekt in Zombo

The schools in rural Macate are in poor condition and are not well established in the communities. Only 35% of school-age children attend elementary school. Examinations show that only a minority of them understand the learning content. Lessons are irregular and teachers lack methodological and didactic knowledge. Most parents are also unable to read, write or do maths.

The CO-OPERAID and JOSSOAL pilot project ensures that classrooms are equipped with school desks, desks, blackboards and learning materials such as exercise books and pens. Investments are also made in teacher training and in involving parents. The project helps the poorest families to earn a better income from agriculture through their own efforts - so that their children can go to school.
